Cinderella

Cinderella

"They made fun of her, scattered peas and lentils into the ashes for her, so that she had to sit and pick them out again. In the evening when she had worked herself weary, there was no bed for her. Instead she had to sleep by the hearth in the ashes. And because she always looked dusty and dirty, they called her Cinderella."

The beloved story of Cinderella is brought to life with this little 12″ doll. Cinderella is depicted as the kind-hearted scullery maid forced to tend the needs of her evil stepmother and stepsisters before she is magically transformed by her Fairy Godmother. Her face is exquisitely hand-painted and her custom styled, Mohair wig of tousled curls is neatly tied back. Her hand-sewn dress of cotton and linen has been artfully crafted to appear as if tattered and distressed. She carries her broom and pail and comes with her own tiny stool upon which she can rest from her dreary days of toil. The included 20" X 24" backdrop is a print of our artist's depiction of the sooty hearth from which she cleans the "cinders" and why they call her "Cinderella".

"For anyone looking to broaden their existing collection - or starting to collect- I believe wood will continue to have a special place.... It may not be large , but it is an extension of the woodcarver's art. Xenis' work in this field is especially worth collecting ..."
